What does it do?

Beta Glucan activates the immune response selectively where it starts, at the white blood cell called a macrophage. When Beta Glucan activates the macrophage it enhances phagocytosis, the ability of macrophages to engulf and destroy foreign cells and particles, thereby supporting the body’s normal fighting defenses. Macrophages are white blood cells are common to all living beings and are often referred to by immunologists as the Pac-Man of the immune system. It is absolutely necessary for macrophages to be activated to be able to attack and kill foreign and transformed cells. Calcium is an essential component of phagocytsing cells such as macrophages and is necessary for succesful immune function. Echinacea enhances the activity of the immune system and is said to posses antibacterial, antiviral, and anti fungal properties.

What are the ingredients?

Beta-1,3/1,6-D-Glucan is a carbohydrate purified from common bakers yeast that in its purified state is proven to fit receptors on macrophage and other white blood cells of the immune system thereby activating the immune response. Beta Glucan is pure carbohydrate; it contains no yeast proteins that could cause allergic reactions. Beta Glucan can be taken and may be useful in conjunction with chemotherapy, antibiotic therapy, or radiotherapy.

Vitamin C is derived from corn and is a non-acidic form of Vitamin C, an essential component of phagocytising cells such as macrophages. A decrease in ascorbate content can be observed in macrophages upon stimulation of their phagocytic function with Beta-1,3/1,6-D-Glucan. This loss may result in decreased motility and impaired ability of macrophages to produce certain important substances necessary for successful immune system function. Every vegetable capsule contains 150mg of Vitamin C (as ascorbate acid), and 5 mg of highly Purified Beta-1,3/1,6-D-Glucan.
